Application

It is used for determine whether there is the risk of jaw entrapment in handles and steering wheels that are located such that they are accessible for teething in the following categories of toys intended for children under 18 months of age: activity tables intended to be played with by a standing child, large bulky toys, stationary floor toys, push toys intended to be pushed by a child walking upright, and ride-on toys.

Test Requirements

1.Openings in handles and steering wheels that allow a 0.75 by 0.75 by 1 in. test fixture to pass completely through must also allow a 1.5 by 2.5 by 1 in. test fixture to pass completely through.

2.The test fixture shall be oriented such that the 0.75-in. (1.9-cm) dimension and the 2.5-in. (6.35-cm) dimension is parallel with the major dimension of the handle or steering wheel opening.
